The Worst Day of the Year

For some dogs, July 4th is the worst day of the year. All those loud bangs and booms, not to mention the summer heat and humidity.

But not at this house.

No. At this house, the worst day of the year is Halloween.

Doorbell, after doorbell, after doorbell. Kids laughing and running. It's enough to drive a senior pug crazy.

So while mom sits on the driveway handing out candy to prevent any unwanted doorbell ringing, we'll be inside trying to figure out a way to remove these ridiculous hats.

Happy Birthday, Macy Mae!

Someone turns 11 today! That means strawberries on her breakfast, extra back scratches and a special doggy ice cream treat tonight!

Happy Birthday, Macy Mae!!

We Are Pugs

We sleep. We eat. We lounge on one single pillow together when there are six to choose from.

We are pugs.

Ignore.

Surrender.

Friday Pug Couch Slouch

Dixie manages to come up with some comical ways to relax on the back of the couch. Friday will now feature her weekly Couch Slouch photo.

Seven Months and Counting

It's been seven months since Macy and Dixie moved to California. After settling in, busy schedules and few post worthy events have led to a lack of updates.

There has been a lot of this.

And some of this.

But a new house with a Bay Area-style backyard is coming soon, and so are more pug updates. With trees to sniff, grilled goodies to beg for and more space to roam, things are about to get more exciting!

Spring Ahead

 We are really,...

really grateful for the extra hour of sunshine.

But please, if you care about us at all...

please, please, please...

give us back...

our hour of sleep.

March Is Here

It's March? Spring is almost here?

Even though the pugs no longer shiver through cold Kentucky winters, there is still a chill in the air around here. Macy is looking forward to the warmer mornings of spring!

Put On the Brakes

It has recently been brought to Macy's attention that city pug walks are much different than country pug walks.

Country pug walks are more like this - lots of green grass and clear pathways.

On city pug walks strange, scary things jump into your path. Like manhole covers, metal grates and sidewalk connectors.

It doesn't matter how hard you try.  There is no way Pug One is crossing.

Soon she looks up at you with those trusting eyes, and with a lot of verbal encouragement she'll ever so gingerly (and quickly) tip-toe over this particular spot. She expects full praise and back rubs once she does.

Then it's back in the bed. And when we face that spot tomorrow,  we'll put on the brakes all over again.

California Pugs

Some big changes have been happening at The Macy Dixie Line. The pugs have traded the Bluegrass and rural living for the California sunshine!

The process all started last fall. We began packing up the house. Dixie made a fleeting effort to help, most often by sitting on what needed to be packed next.

We spent some time thinking about how we will miss the yard. And yes, that cherry tomato plant in the garden.

Then there was 5 days of this.

 And this.

But then a New Year's Eve celebration with the first visit to the beach!

Followed by a cozy evening by the fire.

Now we are getting settled in our new place. There are days when we miss a few things.

But now that mom gets to work from home, the days are filled with naps in the sunshine.

And sunset walks by the water with plenty of dog watching.

Yep, we're pretty sure this whole California thing isn't going to be half bad.
